HOMELINK® University Student Instructions

Introduction

Welcome to HOMELINK University – HOMELINK U -- an internet-based “college” designed to help case managers remain at the forefront of industry knowledge and keep them on top of continuing education requirements. These instructions will show you how to use HOMELINK U to its fullest potential so that you can reach yours.

If you have questions or problems at any time, please call 888-797-8672 or email us at HLUInfo@vgm.com.

How to Login to HOMELINK U

Before you can login to HOMELINK U the first time, you must be registered as a HOMELINK U student. If you are not yet registered as a student, please contact Sara Bauer, Director of Education, at 888-797-8672.

  1. Type www.homelinku.com in your web browser. The HOMELINK U “Lobby” page will display.

  2. Click Login. The login screen will display.

  3. Type your Username (FirstLast). Example: JaneSmith-cm (no spaces). Press Tab.

  4. Type your HOMELINK U Password. Your password must be at least 5 characters (letters and/or numbers). If you’ve forgotten your password, click the “click here” link under the Login button. Your password will be emailed to you.

  5. Click Login. The My Active Courses page will display, listing all HOMELINK U courses in which you’ve been enrolled but have not yet taken. You can return to the My Active Courses page anytime by clicking the My Courses tab.

How to Take a HOMELINK U Course

  1. Click the Title of the desired course. The syllabus for that course will display.

  2. To begin a course, click the blue Launch Course button. DO NOT click a Launch Lesson link under any of the individual chapters in the Lesson Structure.

If you must log out of HOMELINK U before completing a course (i.e., lunch, end of day), you can return to where you left off by clicking the Launch Course button, then clicking on the appropriate page link in the Course Outline.

  3. Click Launch Course. The course’s first page will display. (FYI: Maximize your screen so you are able to see the buttons at the bottom of the screen.)

  4. Proceed through the course by reading each page carefully and clicking the Next button to move to the next page.

  5. After you click Next on the last page of the course, a Post Assessment will display to check your understanding of the course material. The assessment will include 10-20 True/False and/or multiple-choice questions. To successfully complete the assessment, you must answer at least 80% of the questions correctly.

  6. Read each assessment question carefully and select an answer by clicking its radio button.

  7. Click Submit to record your answer. A page will display to indicate whether your answer was correct or incorrect.

  8. Click Next Question.

  9. The final page of the assessment will display a Next button rather than a Next Question button. Click Next and a page displays to indicate your score.

  10. If you attained a passing score of at least 80%, click Next and a page displays seeking your feedback about the course (go to step #12). If you did not attain a passing score, you’ll need to take the Post Assessment again to complete the course (go to step #11).

You are allowed 10 attempts to attain a score of 80% on a course. The number of remaining attempts displays in the Lesson Structure on the course syllabus.

  11. To re-take the assessment immediately, click the Next button and the assessment will begin again. Repeat steps 6-10 above.

To re-take the assessment at a later time, exit HOMELINK U, then follow these steps when you’re ready to re-take the assessment:

    • Click the My Profile tab on the My Active Courses page.

    • Click My Certifications on the User Information page.

    • Click the Title of the course.

    • When the course syllabus displays, click Launch Assessment.

  12. Click Next and a course survey will display.

  13. For each survey statement, click the radio button that best matches your opinion.

  14. At the end of the survey, you are given the chance to add comments about course.

  15. Click Submit Survey. You’ll be asked if you want to submit the survey. Click Yes.

  16. At this point, a certificate of completion will display. This certificate is NOT the certificate that you are required to submit to the accrediting agency. The Certificate and a VERIFICATION OF COMPLETION FORM that you are required to submit to the accrediting agency will be emailed to you within 24 hours after you complete the course survey.
